E. degrees from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China in 2001 and 2004 respectively, and the PhD degree from The Ohio State University at Columbus, OH, in 2007. He was a postdoctoral research associate at Princeton University from 2007 to 2009. He is now an associate professor at University of California, Davis. Dr. Lai’s research interests include information theory, stochastic signal processing and their applications in wireless communications, security and other related areas. Dr. Lai is a co-recipient of the Best Paper Award from IEEE Global Communications Conference (Globecom) in 2008, the Best Paper Award from IEEE Conference on Communications (ICC) in 2011 and the Best Paper Award from IEEE Smart Grid Communications (SmartGridComm) in 2012. He received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2011, and Northrop Young Researcher Award in 2012. He served as a Guest Editor for IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, Special Issue on Signal Processing Techniques for Wireless Physical Layer Security.
